So, after having the paint done, we took her to her first local show. Unfortunately, I was reminded of how much of a PITA black paint is... By 10 am, she was covered in dust, there were streaks from the detailing solution, and the swirl marks were hologramming like crazy.
Knowing the paint has had a couple months to cure, it was time to call in the pro. My buddy Ted does high-end paint correction and detailing for the Corvette club, and has done several of our cars as well. He's a perfectionist, and a master at making dark colors look spectacular.
A full day's work, and he had the Dime looking incredible - No swirl marks, no scratches, and no hazing, even when inspected under a high-powered halogen light. Topped her off with an application of
Opti-Coat (Opti-Guard) (which is amazing stuff).
