Update on my car situation. They totalled it. I have 3 options. One being I just let them total it and write me a check. I can either buy it back or just let them junk it and take all the money and start over (not doing that, screw it). Another option; they write me a check, I buy it back, and find my own parts, etc to get it fixed. Another option; I take it somewhere and have the insurance pay to fix it, but only if they can use aftermarket parts that are cheaper than Nissan Parts, that way they can get the car fixed for cheaper than 75% of its value. If the damage to the car is more than 75% of the cars value, they total it. Mine is at 78%. So, I need to find out the prices of some Nissan Parts brand new, then find aftermarket parts that are cheaper than new Nissan Parts (i feel a cheap CF hood coming on maybe). Last but not least, somehow I find my own parts to let the insurance use. I find my own bumper, hood, etc etc for the place that fixes the car to put on. If the parts are dented or anything at all, they wont fix it, all they do is put them on the car and paint them. Thats all that are allowed to do w/ the money they are getting. So, I have a few options. Not sure what I want to do yet, but I am DEFINATELY GOING TO KEEP IT, so not "get an s13 and put an sr20 etc in it" responces. But yea, what do you guys think?

Good luck finding a CF hood cheaper than OEM... it might be able to be done, but I kinda doubt it. Good luck man!

I thought about Jayson. I will have to figure somethings out....I am going tomorrow to talk to the lady at the Nissan Collision Center about things. Maybe that will help clear some stuff up.

I think buying it back and repairing it yourself is the best option. Unless you don't get a salvage title one of the other ways.

screw salvage title, just let them total it and take it, your car is fugged up bad, not worth it imo.

Its not as bad as you think. I am most likely going to let them total it and write me a check. I'll buy it back, then find most of the parts myself and have the local Nissan Collision Center fix it. They can get it back to pretty much perfect.

Yes, that is the plan right now. I had a talk w/ some people today, and my best bet, money wise and for my cars sake, it probably to let them total it, then me buy it back and get my own parts. I'll let Nissan fix it, because they do awesome work. I have most of the parts I need sourced already as well. So thats good :D I just need some sideskirts to put on

I wouldn't buy it back. It has too many miles on it for you to want to buy it back. If they give you a good amount of money, take that money, and buy either another s14 or an s13 and use the money for mods. Think smartly here, not just about being attached to the car, there are others out there, and if you look, you will find a better one.

You dont understand, the miles are at 120k, with the motor running absolutely perfect. Why just take the money, which wont be enough to buy another s14 (that I would buy at least) and mod it too. That is rediculous. And If you would sudgest modding a new s14 w/ the stuff already on mine, I woudlnt' be able to. I would need as much money as possibly to buy another car, which means I wouldnt' be able to get parts off my car since it wouldn't be "my car" anymore. At that point it would belong to the insurance company. So basically, there is NO WAY that I am not getting this car fixed, it is just a matter of when and where. I have thought about every option I have guys, thought about them all very thorougly, and this seems the smartest one. I will probably have a little money left over from getting the car fixed anyway.

Thank you. I think I am making the easiest decision. I am not letting all my money and time on that car go to waste that easily.

Ben,What was the verdict on the frame? Bent or not bent?A bent frame could cause major front end problems down the road.If they give you a salvaged title and you buy the car back and fix it then in the long run you will have let all the time and $$ go to waste twice.Because you will never get anything out of it if you try to sell it or trade it in.Those are the two things that you need to think about when making the decision.;)

I've thought about it, over and over. But, for a 17 year old who *for right now* plans on keeping this car a LONG time, this seems the best choice. The frame is not bend, by the way.
