A while back there was a thread about an update to the navigation system (I searched but couldn't find it).

In the thread everyone was confused as to when an update would be out for the Navigation System and possible have Live Traffic Updates.

So I went to the dealership yesterday and they told me this:

Only the 07' G35's have touch screen Live Traffic Updates. There is no update available yet for the M class and probobly won't be available anytime soon.

I even asked the obviously dumb question of: "Is it possible to put the G35 CD in our M?" Obviously not.

So there is your update as far as the Navigation goes. If anyone has any new info that I'm missing, please post.

(I want Live Traffic Update stupid Los Angeles and it's traffic!)

I think your dealership should get up to date. I received a post card from Zenrin with notice of an update this week. No traffic updates - that would have to be a hardware update. Go to:

http://www.zenrin.com/infiniti/DVD7

It costs $190 and has already been shipped to me!

BTW - they all use DVDs, not CDs.

For people who might think real-time traffic reports is a good idea, read this article from the New York times:

Yeh, I used the word CD because I didn't want anyone to get confused with the DVD movie drive

Anyway, the website does not mention live traffic updates so I'm assuming there are none then. So you ordered the new one even though there are no traffic updates? Also the update is not a DVD? Then what do you mean by hardware? What has to be changed? And who will do it for you?

I think you should go back and read the web site.

1) It is a brand new DVD for your navagation system. It will replace the one currently in your navagation DVD player. The maps have been updated and enhanced from the version you received when you bought your car. They usually do an update every year - one of the costs associated with a navagation system. If you want to navigate with maps that will go gradually go out of date and be wrong, you don't have to buy any updates.

2) No traffic update system will ever be part of the navagation system you bought with your car, without a very expensive hardware update. It would have to include some sort of additional receiver and display enhancements. I don't think that it will ever be ever on the 06-07 M nor was it ever promised. Buy it with your next car.

3) Try using the traffic service available on your satellite radio in major markets (I know it is on XM).
