So I bought an ebay coilover conversion kit to put on stock struts. When I took off the springs I realized the struts were completely blown. By that I mean that the strut rods could be pushed by hand and did not push back out. They stay where you leave them. Now I like my car real low, but its so bouncey. I do not know if I can just get another set of struts ( KYB GR-2 front and rear on ebay for under $200) and use the coilover kit again, or buy the $400 coilovers on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ories. I would rather use new struts and my coilover kit. I guess I am looking for experience with these. I know good coilovers are much more than I want to spend right now, but I do not want stock height either. I have been searching but not seeing the answers I am looking for. Thanks in advance. Broke guy with broke car in central florida...

if you buy coilovers you don't need struts.

Yeah I was saying either buy a cheap coilover package (including new struts/shocks and integrated adjustable coilovers) or use my coilover sleaves on new strut/shocks.

I would check the classifieds for a set of used struts and lowering springs. You should be able to find a set inside your budget. Then save your pennies for some decent coilovers if you have to go lower.

got to pay to play.

dont ever user those junk coil-over kits from ebay. they arent even safe

at the very least get megan coils.

if you cant afford megans then you shouldnt be thinking coilovers. either save up. or look for some struts + lowering spring options.

Thanks for all the comments. I see now that I should just get some stock replacements for around $200 and save up for coilovers. Are used setups even worth buying? How long are say megan coilovers good for? 40k miles? 20k miles? How can I even tell if they are good if the springs are still on them? I guess I would have to test them with the springs off so I can see if the struts rebound? Thanks again for the people who genuinely want to help me.

Siggy.

Buy crap, get crap! Save, save, save. You'll be happy with REAL suspension, not only with the ride and the abuse it will go through, but you won't be a danger to everyone else on the rode as well.

If you use your ebay coil sleeves and GR2s, you'll be replacing struts ALL the time and your ride will never not be bouncy. End of story. Save.

New struts won't last very long with those sleeve coilover kits. If you're in that much of a hurry try checking out Isis coilover or Godspeed coilover. You could then do a quick review on them for everyone.

I think you should look into classifieds and pick up some used struts for real cheap and save up for functional coils. With a low drop, you're going to need to spend some more for adjustable arms if you want to be aligned correctly so I'd say $400 is probably not enough for a safe and reliable drop in terms of your situation.

a better bang for you buck would be a caster , camber, rucas buy bro..and may i recomend ( yamatogarage) kits...super beefy and great looking too!...its one thing to be slammed and going strait..but if you cant take the corner..it means nothing..start out with the basics.(CCR)..then finnish your upgrade to coils..(real ones)...the main reason i recomend starting with the CCR kits is due to the added stress you will be placing on a OEM suspention with lowering springs and or cheep ebay sleeves...heed the advice of the masters on the forum mr. wizzard ..take your time sire and go with the basics first...good luck
