I have noticed an issue with my Four month old Rogue. When I have it in R or D mode (cant say gear since its CVT ) and apply brakes so that its not moving (example traffic signal or parking lots) ,it vibrates. The vibrations seem to be coming from somewhere behind front passanger seat though can't pin point and start within a a few seconds of stopping/ applying brakes/ starting the car and changing the shift to R / D.

As soon as I release brake and Rogue starts rolling, the vibrations are gone.

I had a few friends take a look at it ,just to be sure I am not overreacting and they too agreed its higher than unusual.

I asked the dealer to take a look at it and he came back saying other Rogue have similar characteristics. Is it so. I am not sure . Do I get another dealer take a second look at it?Thanks for your response.

It's not uncommon to have vibrations at idle, especially with 4 cyl engines equipped with automatic transmissions like the Rogue. 4 cyl engines are naturally unbalanced especially when compared to V-6's or V-8's. If this is your first 4cyl/automatic vehicle, then I imagine it would be quite a dramatic change.

When you have the transmission in gear (R or D) and the brakes applied, the engine is under a bit of load as it spins the torque converter in the transmission. The torque converter acts like a clutch and allows you to stay 'in gear' while stopped. The increased load results in more vibration as compared to being in neutral or park where the engine is under no load.
