Post

Sorry to use my first post this way. I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE and yesterday it started making a funny noise when the car is turned off. It it coming from the front of the engine bay and sounds like an electric motor running. The only way to shut if off is to unplug the battery. Could it be the selonoid(sp?) from the starter?I had a SES light come on last week and never got a chance to get it read. I figure it is an O2 since it is running fine, but MPG has not been that good. A friend at work has an 04 Quest and hers did the same thing (according to her) and it was an ABS Actuator assembly ($1,100). I have zero brake and TCS issues or lights.

Any help would be appreciated,Thanks,Chris

For some reason I'm thinking ABS relay. Open up the relay box next time it happens and pull the ABS relay and see if the noise stops.

Update. The noise quits when the engine control #2 fuse is pulled. The ABS relays and fuses made no difference. Ideas????????????

It's your electronic engine mounts....

Yeap, there was a vid on there. Sounds just like it. I will unplug the front one after I get my alternator rebuilt and back in. What are these ES mounts people are referring to?

Not being insulting here, but an electric motor in the trunktakes down the radio antenna
