im at a point where i might be getting rid of my ca to boost boy for a coupe.. im thinking of what motor i want to go with also.. another ca.. sr.. or ka-t or maybe even rb25..

heres my stand on things..

1. The CA is my weapon of choice if i were to upgrade the turbo to an SR T25.. FMIC.. boosting around 12psi.. my question is how much hp should i expect with that..

2. The SR.. parts rain from the heavens when you speak its name.

3. KA-T.. basically an SR.. but american style.. and i can get a built KA for 3500$ add a turbo 1,900$.. total price of 5,400$.. sexy but pricey. and enough torque to make you aww.

4. RB25.. i can get a set from jspec for 3,400$ and this motor can handle 400+hp on stock internals, with good tuning allowed. That beats the hell out of the KA-T and is cheaper.. but the RB also comes with its pain in the sack swap. iv done 2 rb20 swaps, and theyre no fun.. but im sure its well worth it.

my overall conclusion of what i want is to be able to run 12's without hurting anything. I want to spend the least amount of money possible, but also spend it where it is needed most so i dont blow anything up. Im looking at the CA for its cheap price and the fact that iv owned one for about a year now and am used to working on it.. but the fact that parts for it arnt as optional as the other motors. I really dont feel like building a bottom end.. and i just want to be fast. everyone says "its really what motor is preferred" well i love all of these motors.. and im stuck on what project to go with. my eyes are on the KA-T or SR, but more the CA with turbo upgrade. I hate having choices..

I don't think you'll hit 12's on the CA with a T2 series turbo. If it was me, and I was set on a 12 second time slip, I'd either have an RB or a KA-T.

i think 12's are very possilbe on a t2 series turbo...high 12s...but still 12s....ive seen sr's w/ 250ish whp get into the 12s so i dont see why a ca w/ the same hp (which is possible on a t2 turbo) gettin there too...

my .02

yeah. i would either sr t25 it or t28. nothing major. but i think high 12's is possible with that turbo. my buddy's SR has the t25 and he ran a 12.7 on 14psi..

I stand corrected. I guess I over-estimated the amount of HP needed to get into the 12's. Sorry!

Let us not forget turbos such as the 2871R. I am sure that turbo is more than capable of pulling of a 12s pass. Hell, it's got SRs in the high 11s.

would the lower torque of the ca slow you down that much over and equal hp sr? my goal for my ca project so far has been 300 to the wheels. i really hope that i can get into the 12s with that much power an lsd, good clutch, and tires.

well if yer a decent driver u'll be well into the 12's w/ that power (from seeing "decent" drivers break 12 w/ less power 250-270ish ballpark figure)

i dont think the CA would be the motor of your choice. If I were you just get the rb25 and call it a day.
