I have posted here many times regarding my 2001 Maxima SE. It developed idle problems ( erratic idle, stalling, high idle rpm, low idle rpm.) I went on a wild goose chase and ended up installing: all O2 sensors, iacv-aac valve, mafs, tps,pcv valve. I took it to four shops who couldn't fix it. I took it to Somerset Nissan who told me they couldn't diagnose it unless they put in their exhorbitant parts first. I took it to North Plainfield Nissan who said they fixed it once and it did the same thing immediately. They told me then it must be the ECU. They wanted $1020. I sent the ECU to http://www.ecudirect.com to be repaired. They claim a lifetime warranty. When I had it towed to the dealer to have the ECU reprogrammed, they told me they flashed it but it came up with primary ignition codes and was "running badly". They wanted to sell me $1000 in six new coils. What should I do now??? The dealer was bad news, uncaring and uncooperative; and now I don't know if this new problem is due to botched repair by this Florida ECU company or sabotage by the dealer. Would love to get advice on this. I can get the coils for around $375.00

The VQ30 likes to eat coils. As soon as I read the problems you were having, coils immediately popped into my head. I would have the coils checked. If you end up replacing the coils, be sure to replace the spark plugs while you have them off.

Kenny,Thanks! I have one coil coming for #4. I know Nissan itself recommends replacing them all. I just want to see if this fixes the problem on #4. Low miles on the plugs. It is showing P1320 primary ignition, and P0304 misfire#4. I'm worried that the rebuilt ECU might be causing this, these codes never showed up until the Evil Dealer got the car, so I think my best bet is to replace #4, clear the codes and see what happens. I'm not against replacing them all if it comes to it.
