So I'm finishing my redtop swap into my 95' s14 and have run into this extremely annoying problem.

I have searched on this, and YES I do know how to adjust a throttle cable and have done so already. But as far as I've read on the swap, the cable should work just fine.

When I connect it, with as much slack as possible altready, it's tight and it holds the throttle open slightly and there is no more adjustment!?!???

I don't understand this and I've tried many things already and now I'm just really p*ssed and annoyed. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas? I really need to have this finished by the end of april so I can take it to carlisle

One time i had my oil changed in my 1990 240sx, and when i started it up it idled at about 2k rpm. The culprit turned out to be the plastic retainer on the throttle cable going to the cruise control unit. Have you checked this?

No I haven't. Are you talking about the actual unit under the hood, or something under the dash?

I'm talking about the unit under the hood. I'm unsure where it's at on the SR20DET, but on the KA24DE it's on the passengers side up near the firewall. The unit should be round with a throttle cable coming out the center of it.

Ok then no because I took that off completely. It just seems like the throttle cable is to short, which I don't understand, it shouldnt be and this totally shouldn't even be a problem. I guess I'll take pictures tomorrow and post it too

if i would yu i would take a peice of fairly flexible aluminum or something quite strong which will hold its shape for a long time..aqnd rig it up so yu can hook your throttle cable to the custom peice and in turn hook the custom peice to your throttle body...i did this on my quad and it works well..and i hit 75 foot doubles on that and it hasn't fallen off or anything so it will work for your street car...
