I was recently hearing noise coming from the rear but not the front when i drove on the highway with the radio off. At first I thought is was road noise from the tires, but then I discovered that there is a vent just under the real glass going all the way across. Since there is a direct passage from the car's interior to the trunk, i figure the noise is probably coming from there. The simplest solution would be to stuff the vent with something, probably insulation. But i think that maybe since nissan made this vent that it might serve a purpose. I have no idea why you would need a vent there. Does anyone know if it is safe to close up the vent?

I think the holes are for air movement as a one-way check valve to the outside is usually located in the trunk. I closed up all those holes in the rear deak in my Maxima as part of an overall sound dampening project. Helped a bunch with the sound, but when the weather turned colder, I noticed condensation on the rear window just above the deck. Never had that before.
