Hey guys i have a clifford alarm system in my car and a pioneer head unit also. i dont drive yet so my car sits around and the battery is frequently dead when i try to start my car. its a brand new battery. I tested all the fuses to see which ones had a load on them. i found that my interior lights were the only ones drawing power from the fuse box. my radio, door chime and interior lights are connected to that circit. Now i dont understand why my head unit draws power when the car is off, but i dont have an amp meter so i dont know how much its drawing. also obviously my security system is drawing constant power.

my question is, which is most likely killing my battery? do i have a short in my alarm system or what? im confused and for now ive pulled my radio fuse. ill wait about a week and see what the results are. please help

Sorry for the long post

If you are certain this is where your draw is coming from. I would check your alarm wires for current draw. Check your door trigger wireTry inverting the polarity of the wire connection. You will have to use a relay if you have a positive door and the alarm has a negative wire.

These are big drainers. Check all corresponding hookups from alarm to this area. And like I said, use a relay to invert the polarity.

Let us know how things go

if the radio was drawing the kind of power to drain the battery, you could turn it on or off while the key isn't in the ign. as for an alarm it takes along time (usually over a month) for the alarm and flashign led of it to drain a battery. You said the chime and interior lights are attached to the circuit, so check and make sure somethign like your trunk/hatch light isn't stuck on or any other lights are stuck on for some reason. The chime, does it work? if its broken it might put a draw on the electrical system but not positive just guessing there.
