I found this ground wire disconnected on my friends 240sx. I cannot figure out where it goes. Can anyone help me on this?

it just connects from the bolt on the firewall there, to the bolt visible on the back corner of the engine block.

there are two holes right beside each other, the left has another ground wire (i think) and the other holds a bracket. it should be connected to one of those? both on exhaust side.

it honestly doesn't matter which bolt you put it too. Like you said the one bolt holds the bracket to keep the o2 sensor wire off the exhaust, the other's for the ground. But either one will work as a ground point.

i don't want to be a pain, but did you actually look at your 240 to see? i'm just making sure it doesn't go to something else that needs grounding. i'm trying everything possible to fix my friends low/rough idle.

dude yeah, i was just redoing that the other day. I've completely rebuilt my engine harness because i'm running megasquirt and whatnot. Ive redone ALL the wiring, and redid all the grounds with 4 and 6 gauge wiring.

That is an engine ground! The bolt doesn't matter as long as it goes from the engine to firewall!

Because of how bad that connector on the end of the braid is though, i would recommending getting some actual wire to put in there, then just crimping on the eyelet ends and bolting it down.

As far as a low and rough idle, new plugs, check the IACV valve, and make sure the maf is clean or search for further suggestions on the idle.

I replaced those wires that are from battery to engine and engine to firewall with thick 4 gauge wires from Autozone, but I didn't see any difference. I also replaced a wire from Cat to the chassis. Ground is well done on 240s, so you don't see much difference.
