i recently bought a universal daytime running light control module and was curious if anyone has tried one of these ... i know in the states you guys dont need them but here in canada i need it for my saftey... it seems pretty easy to intstall but was just curious if there was anything extra i had to do for installation because on the instructions it said i may need to add a 12 gauge wire to something (but i forget right now)

I had to have the DRLs (daytime running lights) installed to pass the Canadian Federal Inspection, since I imported my car from the US. I bought a kit from a company called Hamsar.

Here is the homepage:http://www.hamsar.com/

They have kits by applicationhttp://www.hamsar.com/drlappguide.asp

I'd speak to one of their techs before buying. They helped me out a lot.

I bought the universal kit. I tried getting it done by a specialty place initially, but they didn't know how to do it on the Q. Always the same story with people not knowing how to do something on the Q. So, I brought the universal kit to a friend and had him install it for me.

Here is another link of other companies that make DRLshttp://www.hamsar.com/competitor.asp

The universal DRL kit I bought is a cheaper kit. I wasn't able to find the better one and I needed to pass the inspection in a hurry. The difference is that the universal kit is keeps the lights working at full power, while the better one reduces the light output.

You can also try to buy a used kit from a Canadian wreck.
