Speaking of the intolerant left:

http://www.ktla.com/videobeta/5e0320eb- ... Sweatshirt

The guy had just finished building a stage for The Almighty One to walk on, and he gets treated like this? WTF.

Apparently, if you don’t suck up to BHO or the progressive libby Democrat agenda, you get fired.

Actually from what I saw reported locally it was one or two foremen at the job site that saw the word "Bush" and immediately had the knee-jerk reaction to it. The way things happened at the job site it probably never actually got to the union management until after the story broke.

As for anti-military, that's not the case at all. Those union guys don't like anything President Bush and apparently were unwilling or incapable of reading. And yes, it would be inappropriate to wear clothing supporting President Bush while working and collecting a paycheck at a a President Obama job.

It'd be inappropriate to wear clothing supporting any political figure when you're working under a contract that prohibits you from doing so.

I mean, inappropriate if you have an intention of not being fired.

I'd like to see those who responded in a knee-jerk manner fired, then (for several reasons, the first of which being their suspect judgment).

Here we are back to the "contract" issue again. Unless there's something specific in their contract prohibiting certain attire, I'd say that's a VERY questionable position to take. That slope could get real slippery, real fast.

The man's a damn blue-collar laborer, setting up a stage, for crying out loud. Are we seriously going to police everything because some nincompoop politician can't handle existing in a free country?

Union management has already indicated that at minimum severe reprimands for the foremen are in order and may extend to firing them as foremen. I'm perfectly willing to give them a reasonable amount of time to make their determinations as to how the events unfolded and who was involved.

As for "Are we seriously going to police everything because some nincompoop politician can't handle existing in a free country?"

Where in the hell did that come from, AZ? No politician was involved and apparently no politician even KNEW about the episode. Quite frankly, your anti-Obama bias has reached the point that you are looking at things almost with an blind intention of trying to blame him for everything. Exactly what you despised and often pointed out about was wrong with the liberals when George Bush was in office. Works both ways and it's very unbecoming on you.

Perhaps some of us are just fed up with the blatant hypocrisy.

"No politician was involved." That may well be the case. However, this incident stems from SOMETHING. I'd be curious to know what. Is there, as IB alluded to, a "contract" governing attire? If so, follow that thread - theres a politician involved somewhere. This was a call made by a Union foreman... I don't think it would have happened without some sort of precedent or prior occurrence, ALSO involving a politician.

Last, but certainly not least, I wasn't referencing POTUS with *that* comment (although I'll take your comment under advisement - thank you, it is not for naught).

I was referring to whoever is behind the decision to [officially or unofficially] decree that certain attire is "off-limits" because they're union workers (and no, I find it hard to believe it would be because they're working on a stage for POTUS, and if it were, then I'll re-issue my rant, and it WILL refer to POTUS. ;)

Yes, Greg, there's a contract, and I don't think it has to do with any one politician in particular. Maybe it was a policy developed in response to a prior incident, but there's nothing that indicates that President Obama ought to be singled out.

Good thing he didn't violate the policy (not a contract).

Again, who singled out POTUS?

Although, I'd like to see him come on TV and say that the foremen acted "stupidly".

Think it'll happen? ;)

Being that it's not a personal acquaintance of the President, I doubt it.

That's right, I forgot the connection.

Yeah, it's something that kinda got lost in all the hub-bub back then. It's a lot sexier to say it's 'cause he was black.

Though, you still could. Why do you think they were friends? And why do you think he's not friends with this guy that got fired? Hmmm??

Honestly (and you may or may not believe me), I hadn't even considered that.

Pat me on the back, I'm color-blind. ;)

....on a side note, IF he had been Black, do you think BO might have commented? I'd like to think he wouldn't, but there's a small part of me that thinks it just might have been the difference... :(

Oh, I don't doubt that you hadn't thought of it. I hadn't thought of it until I wrote it. ;)

Because there was a lack of a personal connection, I doubt that he'd have commented if the worker was black (we're sure he wasn't?). Even if there had been a personal connection, I think after what happened with Gates that he'd be loathe to make another comment.
