I recently reset my error codes using the pedal method, then tried to initialize my IACV since I had replace the IACV which was causing stalling. The car is running good, but throwing a code for high idle. My IACV reset process is
turn key on ... wait 3 seconds
pump pedal five time to the floor and back within 5 seconds
wait 7 seconds, then push pedal to the floor
hold pedal for 20 seconds, expecting the service engine light to stay 'on'

my issue is that instead of staying on, I start getting the flashing code sequences that indicate (in my case) idle too high

I expected to get a solid lighted service engine light, which queues me to start the engine within 3 seconds to calibrate the IACV

what am I doing wrong? ( This is a 2003 Infiniti QX4)

What you are trying to do is a relearn.
Lots of discussions on here in the past about this IACV problem, and the relearn process.
Personally, I wasn't able to get the relearn to work after I replaced the IACV and had the ECM repaired.
I finally took it to my dealer, and the tech did the relearn in five minutes with his scan tool...no charge.
It's been running great since then.

thanks...
yes, relearn instead of 'initialize'
I've followed the documented steps to the fullest of my ability. I can get the 'reset' of the SES to complete, so I am comfortable that my pedal timing is right. Just will not relearn IACV.
I will start asking around for shops near me that can do a scan tool reset, I guess
