Hey guy/gals. I just bought a 90 240sx. It was only $1000, considering the prices you see on CL. It was from a friend of mines who couldnt afford to drive it back to colorado. After driving it home from work one day, I notices the ride height on the front end is different. I took a measuring tape and measured the center of the wheel to the fender of both sides. The passenger side is approximately 1" higher then the drivers. Any idea what can i look for that is probably bent ?

springs support the car, not the dampers... so I don't see how a blown damper could cause it to be uneven.

Theres a lot of things that can cause it, empty gas tank is one of them.

Measuring from the fenders, esp the fronts are a really bad way of determining ride height, because they flex (and really aren't a stable part of the car). If you really want to find out ride height, measure from the strut towers or from the frame rails. I mean, because I swapped my driver side 92 s13 fender (because it had a dent in it) to a pignose fender, and my new pignose fender gave me like a half inch more of a gap, and I this is without touching my suspension.

If your shock towers look fine and are not bent, your springs are sitting in a correct position, tires are all at correct psi, and camber and caster are almost symmetrical to the other side, I don't see a real big issue. Get under your car, check it out yourself to see if theres anything fishy looking, then get an alignment... you should be fine.
