Hey guys,

I finally got my wheels all off (PO didn't have the key for the locking lug nuts) and pulled the pads out of my front calipers. Basically the passenger side pads are almost at the metal, while the driver side has about 1/8" of pad left. In addition, the pads on the driver side are actually worn at a slant.

I'm guessing I need to rebuild my calipers?

You could try a thorough disassemble and cleaning first. I've had a hanging drivers side front, 240, that I managed to fix with 2 cans of break cleaner and some elbow grease.

Lube the caliper slides. That's what causes uneven pad wear.

By slides, you mean the two metal pins that the pads ride on?

Yes, and make sure all the hardware is on both sides. Normally the slides develop grooves or knicks, if any are there, replace them.

I'll have to check, I know they are all caked with brake dust/crap/goo. I'll see how they look when I polish them up. I already went ahead and ordered a caliper rebuilt kit though, I'll feel better having freshly rebuilt calipers and new pads.
