Hey guys,

I was changing my oil today and when i put the hood back down one side is higher, much higher than the other. that side now looks like it is a drifter hood. how can i fix this? i tried to tighten the hinge but still the same. nothing was in between and the hood never closed with something in there.

This sucks never ending story :help

Use your hood stops to adjust it like Bodyman240 said. They are the black round plastic/rubber things located on each side of the front end. The low side counterclockwise about 2 turns and twist the high side clock wise 2 turns and check it out. Tweak it from there to align it up. They might be a little worn out so you might have to really pull up on them when you are twisting counterclock wise and push on it when going clock wise

no.

the back of the hood is unaligned not the front. the stopper will adjust the front and not the rear. correct?

drifters in japan lift the top part (the part closest to the driving compartment higher) just a japanese thing.

actually no, you're wrong. this is done since things on their engines are too high up in the bay. eg: strut bars

it's both. if you haven't noticed, people like fabricating/mix-matching parts for their cars. some parts fit better than others. strut bars are easy to find, some fit better than. thus putting spacers in the hood mounts to make it clear the poorly fitting/cheap strut bars.

yes, it is also done to let hot air escape, but obviously you had no idea what i was saying.

"drifter hood?"

OHHH MAN!! gotta go!! my option video came in the MAIL~! THEY HAVE LOTS OF DRIFTERS WITH DRIFTER HOODS!!! :rolleyes :rolleyes

its your hood hinges bending as you close the hood ! mine did this and i eventually broke the hinge try some liquid wrench on the hinge point and push down on it,

Yes, hinges go bad on alot of cars, no surprise there....just usually not on anything newer than '75 or so...

Yeah i just found out that this is happening to my car the other day. the hinges, the acual rotating part rusted itself together, so when i opened the hood the hinge just bent itself and then is off when you close it too. I'm just going to the junk yard to get a coulpe.

I'm going to the junk yard maybe tomm. (wed.), and if i can find another set i will get them, they probably won't be more than $10 or so for a pair.

haha good luck finding them took me almost a year to find one hinge, every car i looked at has either no hinges or the passenger hinge left on it, and i needed the drivers side hinge!! yeah the rotating part gets stuck togther and causes that hinge to just bent up an down...
