It's where you are on one side of a big truck, and you steer so you go under it and out the other side like in the fast and the furious.

It relates to the line the car follows through the turn in relation to the position of the steering wheel.

During understeer, the front tires are sliding and not following the line. It's usually the behavior that FWD cars have. Turn the wheel sharply on a wet road and the car continues to go straight or barely turn at all.

During oversteer, the back end of the car will come around making the car follow a tighter line than intended.

Red, not true. To most drivers, particularly inexperienced ones, understeer is more predictable than oversteer. Both are easy to correct with a little practice. If you want to experience understeer yourself, drive thru a snow covered parking lot and try to make a turn. You'll turn your steering wheel but your car still goes straight because your front tires lost their grip. That's understeer. FYI, 240sx's understeer, especially as you approach their limit. Doesn't mean they handle badly. Just the opposite. They're very predictable cars. Part of their charm. Hope that helps

Most manufactures make cars understeer because its safer, if your driving too fast and you try to turn, it won't turn... this is much better than spinning out. Or at least thats how most people see it.
