Does Nissan have really bad quality control for soldering, and do other brands also have these problems? I had to take a course in soldering to become a certified mil spec solderer as part of my job. Quality control inspected out solder joints under a stereo microscope when finished. Maybe Nissan should do the same, or at least teach their assemblers the correct way to solder and insist they do it right.

Another reason to avoid cars with a lot of electronics, About the only thing electronic on my 1982 300TD is the radio and that was replaced long ago.

I guess it is the heat and vibrations that causes the failures?

Most of Nissan's modules are outsourced to other firms... The ECUs are JECS... MAF is I believe Hitachi... audio is Clarion. So I assume they specify quality standards, but I have no idea how they enforce them.
