Hey NICO,

Many of you have been asking if we will sell the Supra Big Brake Conversion Brackets separately.

While we are still leary to do this, I will make them available in a very limited run to see how interest goes.

The reason for the pricing is simple:

1.) R &D isn't cheap!2.) They are DOT approved, once again isn't cheap!3.) The liability that goes along with these products is high, and once again, not cheap.

So, we will part them out, but the pricing will sit at $199/pair. Shipping is $10.

Take care!

PS: If you have a problem with the pricing, complaining isn't going to help. This kit was designed for the RB guys. If you don't have the money to afford it, then don't buy it. Simple and easy as that.

i got a question about the kit. Is there any difference between the supra conversion and a 300zx TT conversion besides the manufacturers?

I believe the 300ZX rotors are 11.5 inches, while the Supra rotors are 12.7 (I assume this because on the Underground Motorsports website it says 324mm of surface area).

Chris,

I really appreciate your making this happen in such a short time. You da man!

Now, I am seriously considering this. I already have the calipers and brake lines, so this would work great. I just need to find out whether the Supra/300ZX brake system is signfiicantly better in performance than the 300ZX brake system. Are there any write-ups you can point me to involving tests/reviews of your brake system (I've already read the one in HCI magazine)?

I will do a search on NICO to see if anyone has done a write-up on it.

Thanks.

It seems like a few of us posted within 1-2 minutes of each other so I may have repeated some earlier comments.

Doomed2Walk: 300ZX rotors are exactly 11 inches (280 mm)

drifter_for_life06: 1 inch = 25.4 mm

FYI: Stock 240SX rotors are 9.8 inches

Chris,

One more question: My guess is that most of the people purchasing the brackets will NOT have Supra rotors already (they will probaby already have the 300ZX calipers, brake pads, and brake lines). Can I purchase the Supra rotors from you too? I checked out your web site but could not find any rotors for sale under the suspension/brakes section.

I don't want to be too demanding, but a brackets plus Supra rotors package would be nice to see, IMHO.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

I plan to run a two piece 332x32 front rotor using Brembo Red calipers for what it is worth. I'm also going to run a brake porportioning valve to help control some of the bias issues in the front.

If you want to go to the track this brake package would help you.

Might wanna ask Chris about the fitment as far as OEM wheels goes.

Hey Guys,

It will require a 17" wheel. Your stock wheels are simply too small and won't fit around the caliper/rotor.

If you want a Supra/Bracket combination, it runs $450 total.

Add $50 if you need conversion brake lines.

And the Supra rotors are right at 13". They will add to performance as it allows more surface area for cooling. You also have more leverage.

But, if you are driving around at 60 MPH all the time, then this mostly comes in for show. A 13" rotors is something to see on a 240SX. It is right out amazing.

Hello Chris,

I appreciate the flexibility of options you have brought to purchasing the components of the big brake system.

One more question: The $450 bracket plus rotors price: Does that include drillling for four-lug on the rotors?

Thanks.

I spoke to someone once who said you needed a z32 brake mc--why is that? its not pushing any more fluid due to using a bigger rotor--just more rotor surface area. Why would a z32 MC be necessary?

You don't use the stock 240 calipers, you use the 300zx 4 pot callipers. You don't NEED the Z MC, I don't use one on my front z brakes, but it helps with the brake feel.

I don't have the Z32 MC and my brakes work great. And the brake feel is very good.

By the way, the UM brake upgrade does NOT allow you to use more rotor surface area (that's limited by the Z32 calipers and brake pads you already have); it allows you to have more leverage with the same braking force by moving the calipers away from the hub center.

It does have more surface area, just the same swept area on the pad.

Area of circle = pi * r^2

Increasing the radius because the caliper is moved outward on a larger diameter rotor.

Exactly, well put!

It doesn't allow more braking area, but it does allow more surface area for heat dissipation. A key function on any big brake kit.

You bringin that creation of yours to the NICO convention next year? It'll be in Dallas, and I'd like to see it.

I humbly bow before Chris (underground) and Nismo_Freak. I was not thinking straight when I wrote what I did. Same braking area but more area for heat dissipation. At least I got the leverage thing right - whew!

Take care!
