I know that's not the official name of that shield that's under the engine. I don't have one but the 91 Q at the junkyard has it. Will it fit my 94?

I would say yes, it would. Depends on how much they charge you. New is over $200. While you are there, get me a transmission and TC.

Transfer Case? Maybe we should go together. They now have 4 Qs.

You could be the first in NICO-Land with a Q45x

You know that's funny. I had a chance to buy a good Q45 v8 a couple weeks ago. We were thinking of putting it in my Jeep Cherokee 4x4. Jeep's name for that is the XJ. We were going to rebadge it as a XJ45.

What a monster that would have been.

Got one yesterday. Whew what a nasty thing it was from the junkyard too. It's got gunk all over it. That thing on top looks to be some type of foam cushion? What's it purpose? Will I ruin it by spraying it all over with degreaser, scrubbing and hosing it off? Anyone ever done that?

did that very exact thing last wknd. used a marine de-greaser but im sure any one would work. i stood it up on end to drain/dry. went to the parts store 2mi. away with that shield off. i noticed a significant increase in engine to cabin noise. if you like a quiet ride, you'll like it on there. plus im sure you can see how the decrease in road debris will mean longer lasting components. (i.e. belts, alt. a/c comp, pulleys/ tensioners etc. will keep a lot of dirt out of the engine bay. it's a good thing.

I think there are a couple of fiberglass mats to absorb sound and oil drips-just toss them.

It has a worthwhile function, but its hardly essential.

If you have a long gravel driveway, pave it.
