i just got my first Z a few weeks ago and am really starting to look it over and trying to learn everything i can. I knew it had a K&N air filter but i had no idea how old it was or anything so i got the nose panel off to see if it needed to be cleaned and i saw a red and white wire that seem to have been cut. it looks like they go to or from the A/C. the other end where they were cut from i see the wires sticking out and it is attached to the front bumber inside. Any idea what this is?

Holy cow, you have quite a few issues. Does your horn worn? Is the wire attached to the horn on that side?

Another thought is, does your car have auto climate, if so there should be a sensor up front in that general area, could also be that. I am not 100% sure that is what its used for, but I do know mine has a temp sensor thingy on the bumper. Has a connection just like the cut wire has too. Just really unsure if mine is 2 wire or just one.

yeah i know. Wish i would have known everything i know now before i bought it. Would have checked a few things a little closer! But i guess it is a good learning experience and plus i get to learn more about the cars themselves so thats good.

The horn works so its not that. It does have the auto climate control, and i have noticed that it works really well when i set it at high temps but the low temps doesnt really kick out much cold air? could this be part of that problem? Or just low frion? oh it might also be the climate sensor inside the map light housing, because i noticed a clicking the other day and popped it off and the fan was just ticking. Already have one of those on the way though, so that might help.

And to add more fun i was just checking the coolant sensors and the one with one wire the wire just pulled right out of the connector and then the other one is super corroded and is possibly why my temp gauge isnt working. On my way to get new sensors now. we'll see what happens.
