I am thinking about leaving the Q down for a couple of weeks, giving myself some time to complete some "big" jobs without worrying about transportation. And, I am thinking I might try to get this done at a time that will coincide with some vacation time from work. That will leave me plenty of time to work on the Q.

So, I am thinking about getting a couple of jobs done all at the same time. Under Plenum hoses are where I plan to start. But, I was also thinking I would replace valve cover gaskets. I think doing the plugs at that time would be an obvious overlap. I am assuming that this would be a good time to replace a bad injector or two? How about knock sensors... would this be an appropriate time to replace those? Are there any other obvious jobs that would overlap with the labor I would already be doing?

Your VC's have already been resealed, they shouldnt need it... I wouldnt tackle that job, that is no fun... Its up there with the chain guides on my no-fun list.....

If you want me to help with the plenum let me know... We could knock it out in no time or at least get a massive chunk of it done...

To be honest I was thinking valve covers might want to get done simply because I was going to try to get that bad injector done. I figured that everything would be disassembled anyway...

Can I easily access the bad injector while Plenum kit is getting done, or does it require a lot more labor? And... following the same logic, I was thinking the knock sensors might be easy to get to... but, I don't know about that since I don't acutally have any idea where the sensors are. Of course, I don't know for sure that the knock sensors are bad since I haven't ever actually checked the ECU. But, the engine is old enough that I assume they need to be replaced.

And... if I am going to get all that done anyway...you know.

Have you read the plenum guide.....? on Q45.org, most of this is answered there...

there is no overlap between plugs and plenum to speak of... The valve covers have nothing to do with each other...

Youll be able to access every injector when the plenum is off..... You should consider having your injectors cleaned at that time if you dont mind a longer downtime... One of our sponsors does this.....

zerothread?id=138400

CHeck that info out, if you have them cleaned, evne at the basic level, you will have achieved a new level of idle smoothness.....

Definitely consider new KS when your under there too... Check your ECU codes too.. I kinda showed you how to do that, if you need more guideance let me know....

Wes covered it for you, i'll throw my $0.02, and that is to not only do the ks ($123/ea), but the ks harness for another $61. then, make sure you do all the water hoses. there is one thick stubby that you have to take out to reach the ks anyway, so go ahead and do it. if that one goes it's a quick meltdown. IoS doesn't include the waterhoses in the plenum kit unless you ask.

I would clean the intake manifold really well while you have it off. New PCV valve. The hose that runs from your IAC is probably toast so you may want to order another one of those, mine was hard as a rock. Replace the thermosthat since you'll be draining the antifreee to do the hoses. I would highly recommend doing the knock sensors since your going to be in there anyway. So of the vacuum hoses under the plenum may be brittle also and in need of replacement. I had to do all of these things when I ripped mine apart to do the knock sensors. I video taped my engine before, during and after I did the work and it was priceless when I put it back together for cable & hose routing. If you have Wes helping you out, I would say he is your best source for doing this job since "He's the Man"...

If you REALLY want to make it a complete job, do the radiator hoses at the front, along with the thermostat like coasty mentioned. Also, do the heater hoses and the IAC "Y" hose in the back. Those are an ENORMOUS pain to do with the plenum in place.

The infinitipartsusa kit does not include the two IAC hoses under the plenum that are impossible to remove with the plenum in place. Do them too.

I didn't follow my own advice and now I've drained and refilled my coolant 3 times in 10,000 miles.

As for the valve covers, mine are oozing too. The size of the job always puts me off whenever I consider it though. What a pain.
