Probably a dumb question but I`m gonna ask it anyhow lol. Do I need one? I mean, mine is soaked with oil. I just got the truck, `85 720 2wd, and the valve cover gasket leaked and the PCV needed replacing. Between the 2 oil had given the underhood a nice shiney coat of oil lol. I`m just worried, I guess, that there`ll bee too much engine heat created for the hood if I remove the mat. Thanks in advance for any all help.

You might be able to grab one out of a newer like 90's pickup if you want a replacement. But you don't NEED one, but they do something not too much.
