Anyone know where to get a good deal on the under engine splash shield and hardware? Mine is missing some screws, has some wholes in it and is torn up. Taking a beating since i got the car lowered

most take that liner off as it warps which makes it hang lower and scrapes all the time.

lowest point of the M is the front swaybar & cats.

as most take them off some trim the parts that are hanging the lowest.
I still have my liner on but have trimmed most of it off. I can do an oil change without removing the rest of the liner.

I don't think it's worth buying a new one if your lowered, it's just going to warp with the heat again and scrape all over the place.

I still have mine & appreciate how clean it keeps my engine bay. If you cannot find one for sale somewhere, perhaps you could make one out of aluminum.

Is that the piece I hear scrub just before the ARB buries itself in the road?! :rotfl

I've gotten a fender liner and a few other small things from them in the past, no complaints here.

As for the fasteners, I've used http://www.clipsandfasteners.com for small stuff before, but did not notice the under cover bolts listed there, might be worth another look as I'm sure the dealer won't be cheap.

Outside of those suggestions, the local junk yard might be a good bet as well.

Didn't Antz make an aluminum plate to replace the cheap plastic OEM one? Speaking of which, I havent seem him around in a long time now. Did he die of old age or is he just lurking in the shadows?

He did, and he just commented in typical Antz fashion a few days ago on a thread about a guy who was trying to decide on whether the 8 or 14 speaker stereo was a big enough difference to not buy a particular used M he was considering.

seems that would be the way to go since the OEM gets beat up to hell...wonder how much it cost

Cost me about $50.00 (US) to have them copy and cut me a piece of sheet metal. Works like a charm-I now plow through snow banks like an M-1 Abrams w/o the shield tearing loose.

Or at least it will be when I replicate this. ; )

Do you mind sharing what gauge steel you used, how well it has held up, and if you are lowered and scrape?

I'm lower and still have mine in place. But an aluminum one is tempting..

It was very easy to take the old plastic shield to a local machine shop where they just penciled around the outline of the old onto a piece of sheet metal-drilled a few holes and voilà!

looking for one as well. dealer says its faulty oil changers, and not heat caused. dont want to replace with the same item, and cannot find anything close. anyone else beside's Antz's route, find an alternative? The thread for the metal one here is only for the 35s, wasn't it?

Been eyeing that with much interest, but still really was for 35s for a while?

Read the new info about the 45s. I'm fine with it still having to drop for oil changes, but rattle not yet solved? And on top of that, I'm an X.
