I've searched on this site and the web in general, and everybody says when you swap to the SR all you have to do is connect color to color on the under dash harness. It seems simple enough, but a few colors on mine don't seem to match up on the car side. Has anyone else encountered this? Sorry, I'm a rookiee to posting.

I never get these questions. It's not specific enough. The dash wiring is USDM I never get why people fool with it. You have to use the USDM underdash wires and the USDM interface.

What he means is that for the dash plug between the JDM engine harness and USDM dash harness you match about 5 or 6 colored wires. The problem is that there are about 12 wires on each connector.

The answer is that you generally do not use the other wires, they are for the Nissan consult port, AC, EGT light, ambiant temp sensor and another function or two that people generally do not use.

Oh Ok well in that case.

Here are the wires:

The Yellow wire with the red stripe match on both the KA and SR side of the wiring, these are for your tach. The blue with the green stripe is for AC. Orange is for the ignition. The black is ground. Blue with Black stripe is water temp. The yellow and green wires are for speedo. Like Speedracer says the rest are unused.

Thanks for the help. It's pretty straight forward how you just need to connect like color to like color, and I've found that for four of the necessary wires it makes perfect sense and they match up perfectly. The problem is I don't see an orange wire (for ignition) on the US car side. I don't know if I'm just being blind but I've spent a good amount of time staring at this harness and see no orange wire. Are they the EXACT same colors, or are there some slight variations. In all the guides I've seen nobody seems to have any problem with it like I have. I can try to take some pictures up in there, but I don't know if it would help. I've looked a little around my ignition switch to see if I can trace a wire, but haven't had much luck, yet. Thanks again for your help.

The orange wire is definately there, the black yellow wire on the ignition switch runs to the fuesebox down on the drivers side. Then out the other side of a 30 amp fuse down there it becomes the orange wire you are looking for that runs to the ECU.

Thanks a lot. That should help out big time. My car's been sitting around for years and I've sunk a ton of time and money into it, but I still haven't gotten it all together and going. I need to get my crap in line and get it on the road!

Did you end up finding the orange wire? It should be in the center of the clump.

I may have done something very, very bad. I see a different connector now with a clearly orange wire up higher behind the glove box...I will investigate further...

This is the connector that I need to splice into, right? This is where I cut it. Where does this come from? At the brown connector I clearly see the orange and every other wire I need.

What did I cut into then? It looks like it's coming in through the firewall. The wires are somewhat faded, and I have a brand new engine harness, so I know it's from the car. I can easily now lengthen the wires a bit and connect the matching wires from the harness by the ecu to that brown plug, but what did I cut? Is that a piece from my KA harness that I somehow didn't pull out, or something?
