under dash solenoid/valve/pump?

on the road with 1996 q45t. potential problem. peculiar noise emitting from under dash, sounds centrally located, happens when ig. key is first turned to ON, clicks for appx. 5 or 6 secs. then again when eng. started . i think the noise sounds like a fuel pump or a solenoid. any ideas? any oem after marketers in dallas tx.? have fsm on disc.
