So I've gotten my oil changed a few times now and I'm thinking the dude who changed my oil didn't tighten the cover underneath the car well and while I was on the freeway, it came off... completely mutilated the cover... I had to get a razor blade and cut it off... anyone know where I could find one? The alternator/drive belts are too damn close to the ground to leave it off. I see lots of probs in the future.

You can order it from Everything G35 (http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/). Depending on which cover was damaged, it is either about $100 or $50. Of course, you're local dealer would also be able to get the part as well.

I'm going to fab one out of CF or fiberglass with hinges or some sort of quick release on it.

I'm not a big fan of taking off all 14 or so bolts to get to the oil filter. Plus the previous owner mutilated the cover that's on there right now.

I tried searching for it and couldn't find any types of covers on there.

It takes a bit of work to find OE parts sometimes. But on that site, click on the link to the G35 sedan. Then there will be a section for OE replacement parts. Clicking that will allow you to enter the year, make and model of your G. Once you get into the actual parts database, then look under the link for radiator support. A link th splash shields will come up. Then Front Shield. Then pick any of the three parts and it will bring it up on the main window. From that point, you can click on the button to view illustration and it will take you to the microfiche photo which will be easier to tell which one you need.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but ^ that's definately not true.

In addition to keeping crap out of your engine bay, it serves to reduce underbody drag AND to properly circulate heat out of the engine bay.

I was initially going to get a piece of plastic or sheet metal to put down there thinking it would provide perfect drag (or lack there of) until I started doing some extensive research on the importance of proper ventilation and drag and lift.

Note: A lowered G will experience less underbody drag than a stock height G.

What about getting together at the Brat Stop in Kenosha WI? I met a couple more G drivers in the area lately. They are interested too.
