im looking to start building my s13 for drifting but i also want to be able to take it out on the streets of chicago.

right now i am doing the suspension and im kind of torn between the TEIN drift spec coilovers with EDFC or the tanabe sustec pro seven coilovers with TEAS

Does anyone have any experience with either of these suspension setups. If so any help/suggestions are much appreciated

search search search.

you dont need drift spec coilovers or whatever to drift.

learn your car, practice, slowly upgrade.

and also, im guessing the TEAS is the same as EDFC for tein, you dont need that **** either, you can adjust the dampening force yourself. dont be lazy.

sounds to me like you just want to spend a bunch of money on something.

TEIN are for Hondas - Buy some nice shocks first i.e. KYB AGXs then if you want lower race springs buy some HKS or something along that line.

??Well, it seems to me TEIN is the most widely used spring for most 240 owners.

And IIRC, isn't Tanabe the company that d!ck HATES? Because there crappy or something. Maybe that was there lower grade of stuff.

I haven't had experience with either, but if I was in your position, I would say go with TEIN. I've never heard horror stories, and only great things about there stuff.

The only TEIN I run on my car is the inner/outer tie rods and tie rod ends.

Good luck with either decision you make - just make sure it IS suitable for the streets of Chicago. Too terribly stiff might make your g/f rethink about purchasing the sports bra for travelling in your car. And who wants to see a girl's hoo hoo's compacted? I don't.

Before I bought the 240sx -- I completed a JDM H22a 95 Prelude SE project and it had tein s techs along with kyb agxs. While the spring/ shock setup was great -- it would literally knock the fillings loose from your teeth. I could not stand the ride quality and I had camber kit and proper oem alignment. It is FAST and could take exit ramps at 100mph+.

Had lots of 240sx kills of course not many sr, rb swapped cars here. I have been lurking here for a while and just bought a 96 240 se auto which I will either transform into a sr20det 5 speed or an rb25det neo auto. Have not figured that part out yet. I may own a Dodge Hemi Charger but there is and always has been a in me....

y neo? they have better stock low end torque given but its not easy easy to push power outta them as the regular rb25s and i could be wrong but im pretty sure its technicaly a diff engine thus makin it impossible to find parts as its already find to find reg rb25 parts

win!

LOL...

but for real though, EDFC is overrated. Are you really that lazy? Hell, the damper knobs are on the top!

What spring rates are you looking to get? btw, I have heard nothing but good reviews on pro7's.

is with this guy?

Being a is nothing to be proud of.

Tein makes great products. I have the same AGX/ S- Tech combo on my s13. But I know that in NO way do its crappiness relate to the bada$$ery that are Tein coilovers... The comparison of a Honda platform in this context is rediculous.

I'm surprised this thread wasn't been locked yet...

Hmmm have you ever thought of getting HKS and Cusco coilovers? I know they're a bit expensive but their items are built to last. I got cusco tension rods and they are very solid, even after few thousand miles on them. Anyways back on to your situation, i got tein flex on my s14 and their not all that great. I think its just the hype and mass advertising that makes tein seem like the best choice for coilovers. I used to have a set of megan street(8k/6k) coilovers and they performed pretty well on the touge but got this constant knock on every hard turns. In addition, they were too stiff for the street of san francisco (cracks roads, dips, and potholes). Back to tein flex (6k/5k) again, my first response were that you could actually feel how soft they are but does not perform as well as the 8k/6k setup. Moreover tein flex coilovers are bare able on regular streets but it will not perform as well as a stiffer spring setup.

In short: HKS=Cusco > tein flex or megan streets Performance: stiff setup> soft setupComfort: soft setup > stiff setup
