I noticed at Christmas my uncle didn't have his '98 Tacoma he's had since he bought new. I knew he wouldn't/couldn't sell it because it was pretty neglected; The 4wd went out, power steering went out, brakes were bad, tires bald, and had 374k ill cared for miles on it. So he goes on to tell how his ball joint went out and nearly caused him a head-on prior to getting it on the shoulder. He towed it to the local Toyota dealer where they gave it a quick inspection and noticed rust on the frame. Because of the recall they have going on they offered him $11,095.50 to buy it back and all he has to do is bring them the title.

That thing's been a tough little truck and I wondered why I didn't see many on the road since they pretty much last forever, but I forgot all about the rust recall.

That recall is crazy man. My friend's dad recently bought a tacoma for like $2000. Took it to the dealer to get it inspected and fixed and they found the rust. They gave him around $10k which he used as a down payment on a brand new SR5. He is one happy camper.

Good luck, people are cashing them in making them hard to find. It's even worse up here where they actually do rust.

I believe my friend, Jordan, got about $21,500 or $22,000 for his about 5 or 6 years back. His was a fully loaded model though and had just bought it for 8 or 9? Was beat pretty bad haha he has the highest payout that we've ever heard of
