Thats so true...............seems like no matter what you do to avoid crap,it still finds a way.mgamino wrote:Doesn't that suck... You do everything you can to take care of your car: you park far away from others, being cautious when opening your doors, trying to avoid any danger that someone else may do something to your car and then what do you know- the f%$&n neighbor jacks up your ride! Sorry that happened to you.
This makes more sense after thinking about it...MagicM wrote:Not so sure it would be the windstar, From the picture it looks like somebody with a high front end vehicle hit you. The windstar front end if it hit you would be lower than your picture, it looks like a SUV hit you. If you really wanted to make sure, take a sample and check for Green color marks under some scope. Unless he parked beside you and smoked his door open on your side, then it might be the windstar.
Don't wait too long to talk to them. Otherwise, the issue will be long gone...bembol wrote:

I waited all day and fell asleep (got home from working nights) yesterday and woke up this morning and they're gone.
Not necessarily...MadBlackCoupe wrote:I've just been skimming, but couldn't you take a peak at the car?
If you have a dent, they have a dent.
If they do, it could be from somewhere else. Also, the car may not have been noticeably damaged, and he would have to know if they hit it with the front or back. Either way, it is a start.MadBlackCoupe wrote:I've just been skimming, but couldn't you take a peak at the car?

MagicM wrote:There's no way the front or rear of that windstar would make a impact like that, the van is far too low like that of a car. Looking at the height and the way there is a long skinny vertical dent, with the height, iam nearly 90% sure somebody smoked thier door while opening. Whoever it was hit it hard, because i've seen a number of people hit thier doors on other vehicles in parking lots, and you have to really open it hard to make that kind of a dent.
Man, I know you are trying to protect yourself by parking sideways out in the back 40, but all you are really doing is attracting attention to yourself. Same goes for the guy that uses 2 parking spaces by straddling the white line. You are a huge target when u do that. Anybody that is the least bit jealous will hit on your car. I've seen it happen. What I always try to do is either nab the spot right next to a handicapped location, or take a space at the end of a lane, preferably next to a curb. That way you can cheat your position a bit towards the curb and leave lots of room on the other side. The handicapped spaces are also much wider, so the spots right next to them allow me to move closer to the handicapped line, and leave lots of room on the "normal" side. This also does not attract attention to my vehicle. My wife thinks I'm anal, but I don't have any door dings either.I also avoid, at all costs, parking next to any 2 door vehicle, or an older panel van. 2 door vehicles have much longer doors and need to be opened wider in order to get in (the worst ones are Camaros and Firebirds). The old panel vans have front doors with a very sharp 90 degree edge that will punch a hole in plate steel. Also watch out for SUV's with car seats. Kids don't know better when getting out, and will swing their doors wide open, right into your car.Hope this helps.prlwhitecoupe wrote:
one time I parked sideways in the AMC lot, all the way in the back, and i always check my car all around before i get in everytime and i check the license plates of the cars next to me if i absolutely have to park next to someone before I leave anywhere...what else can u do right......but yah when I came out of AMC some mofo had spit coffee or some nasty **** on my door handle, prolly some sick prank because i parked sidways, but the guy next to me had enough room...but basically i was saying stay the **** away..ppl are jealous out there man.....what can you do.....its sad
There's only so much you can do. In the end, you can only account for your own actions/decisions and have to remember that it's just a car. Image what people with Bugatti Veyrons are going through when they have to park...prlwhitecoupe wrote:What else can you do.
