Unable to shift out of 1/reverse

Dear pals, i have an awful experience with my QX 4, and sensors can make your life so miserable!!!....anyways, after settling issues with several sensor problems after some 3 years of driving i got stuck with my car not moving when in drive gear and gear 2 selection but only moves in 1 and reverse...maybe a safe mode state. I had changed the valve body and nothing happened, then the mechanic claims to have changed a sensor of some sort! which lies on top my gearbox( had to be dropped) and then i worked for two weeks and the problem has resurfaced again. My mileage is about 92k and no major issues with this ride. I dont trust what the mechanics are saying, can you help me with any suggestions. I am still stuck with no car movement in drive gear and gear 2 position but only in reverse and 1 position.

What year QX4 do you have? Which sensor did your mechanic replace? Was it the revolution sensor? That's the only sensor that's on top of the transmission case I believe.

Its a 2001 model and yes its the revolution sensor that was replaced, and after some research, i was able to find out from the infiniti technical support manual, that i would need to service or change my forward clutch drum unit in the gear box.

Did you run self-diagnosis described on page AT-47 of the factory service manual?

No i have not. Will this help solve the problem? page AT-85 of the factory service manual gave two diagnostic items only and i have performed the first. So i'm thinking its the second. Do you agree?
