I was going through my wallet last night and found a spare door key for my old car tucked away in there. I never had to use it, but it was always somewhat calming to know if I ever *did* lock my keys in, I could just unlock the doors with that spare. Thought it'd be nice to have something like that for my '03 Pathy.
(Ya, it's almost impossible to lock yourself out when the key's in the ignition... but there's always some other scenario that'll creep up on you.)
Well, to the question: Are there key blanks available that are completely flat, instead of the keys I have now with the big black head that holds the NVIS chip? The key I'm looking for wouldn't have to start the Pathy, just open the doors.
Do the door lock cylinders check if the key used has the right NVIS chip in it, like the ignition does? Or does it only care that the key fits? I didn't see any indication in the electrical diagrams that it checks for the chip, but just wondering if anyone knew for sure.
