Sorry for not providing an update. On the day I got the UltraGauge in the mail my cat (now my deceased ex-cat) bit me in the knuckle while I was relaxing on the couch reading the owners manual. The infection that developed overnight has resulted in 2 surgeries (minor) and a bandaged hand that's made it impossible to do any work on the Q. I'm also having problems with the defroster and have had the Q parked for 3 weeks until I'm able to reach my hands under the dash.
I did manage to get about an hour the afternoon I received it trying it out on our two Honda Accords. I connected immediately and displayed the factory presets which are mostly MPG, speed and fuel economy figures. Same kind of info you'd see permanently displayed on a dashboard in newer vehicles. There's lots of data available on most all of the sensors but it will only display 18 items at a time by scrolling through 3 screens (6 per page). If you want more data you need to go into SETUP and program the next 18 items to display. This could be a bit tedious if you wanted to look at engine data since there's so much available. One of the data points is fuel pressure so I'm anxious to hook it back up to the Accords to see what it displays. I should be able to check it out further in a couple of weeks.
Consider that the cheapest OBD2 reader you're going to find will be about $35 shipped on ebay and it's only going to read and clear codes, nothing else. For another $30 the UltraGauge also reads sensors and voltages so it's probably not a bad deal. The cheapest OBD2 reader I've seen in an auto parts store was about $100.
The only person I know of locally with an OBD2 Q45 is Mark Crews (MCrews). Maybe he'll read this and get in touch with me. Anyone else in the Sacto area?
