This is a real quick fix, and there's almost NONE of these left in existence. SO cool.

I didn't think there were any left at all in the US. The reason they're so rare here is because Nissan tried to buy them all back to settle a big lawsuit. I guess they didn't buy them all.AZhitman wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-V ... 655wt_1162

I'll pass on it, thanks.

After that, I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteers willing to pee on its ashes including the melted gay alteeza tail lights that he would have transferred from his mom's SUV..Ace2cool wrote:We could remove the door handles on the inside too! It appears this Vanette was a direct competitor of the toyota van, and was similarly sized. I read a little more about it. It seems the original Japanese version had a 2.0L motor, but Nissan wanted something more powerful for the American market to better handle popular American options like a/c. So Nissan swapped in a bigger (2.4L) motor for the US model. It appears the engine compartment with the bigger motor ended up too cramped in key areas, resulting in overheating and fires. After 4 recalls, and once a big class action lawsuit was filed by several owners against Nissan, Nissan took an unusual step by recalling/ repurchasing every Vanette they sold in the US. (Evidently they didn't sell that many of them). They paid top dollar and destroyed them. But there were a few hearty owners that decided to keep theirs. This particular Vanette must be one of them. That makes this van quite rare, with a great story. But as far as value, well, it's probably not worth all that much as Nissan continued to build the Vanette for several years, they just didn't sell them in the US.Jesda wrote:The Toyota van was capable of off-roading and had a built-in ice maker. I can't tell from the pics, but is the Nissan van micro-sized or is it comparable to the Toyota?

I love these. I've never even seen one for sale.
Rarity aside though, I prefer the Toyota version because it's just slightly kookier looking, especially the interior.
