If you can get a live king crab, or happen to live near a restaurant that can, you should try it out. It's more expensive, but the difference between the frozen stuff and freshly-killed is like hamburger and filet mignon.
There was an article in the New York Times a year or so ago about this, in the Dining section. You can probably find it if you go there and search the archive for 'alaska crab legs'.
