Hey guys, I ended up buying this POS 1980 Tercel, it weighs 1,900 pounds, and I just bought it to screw around in, it cost me 150 bucks and runs perfect. Then, my highschool had a car show, so I sprayed the hood black, drilled 2 maxwell house coffee cans onto the back bumper, and entered it as a joke. But then it dawned on me, what if I could make fun of all the ricers, and still beat them? This car weighs 1,900 pounds which is light as hell, before anything is gutted. I'm currently debating whether or not to get an engine swap done to it; one possible candidate if it fits is a 1988-1993 celica turbo engine, it comes in around 200hp and 200torque, and runs about 2k for the engine + the swap fee... But I mean, wouldn't it be worth it?

What do you guys think? How funny would that be to see some beater stomp a civic...

I still have to see if it will fit and I just wanna know how you guys feel about that :D

Does a 4efte bolt directly into the 1980 version, I know it did later years, its only a 1.3L, but you can get some impressive numbers. Also a 4AGE could also be a nice, either turbo, supercharged, or NA...

i have always liked sleepers. i think if you got the funds to do it it will prolly be worth it. especially when you pull up to a mustang and he thinks your for real and just another ricer, then you lite em up and he pisses himself

I found both of those engines going for about 2k online, do you know if you can only get them from japan? Also, I found out the celica engine I was looking at is AWD :-\

EDIT: the 4AGE is running about 500-700 on eBay, but you can never be sure about the functionality :-\

you can bulid up the 4age from parts. my hachi buddy bought a head for the 4age for 40 bucks, block off the 20v for 200, another online guy sold him the cams for 40, and went to a junkyard for the other accessories. check out club4ag for those kinda buys.

The tercel is not, but on the website I was looking at it denoted the 4AGE as FWD, the link is here:

I'm gonna get pictures up of what it currently looks like, debating whether or not to put an offset racing stripe of duct tape, and a yellow fiberglass body kit (they both add a combined 40 HP!!!!)

many paseo owners are going with the 4age so I'm guessing a tercel would be similar, I would get a silvertop 20v from venus (600 w/most if not everything you need)

LOL i think you'd be able to even run with SRed 240's with that hp-weight ratio, let alone a civic! Straight line, of course :P

hehehe, this sounds like what me and a friend are gonna do to his 95 neon sport. he blew a lifter in his engine and blew his transmission so were going to get a v6 dodge stealth engine (it all lines up except one of the engine mounts) and put taht in, and wait for someone to showoff.... hehehehehe

2 Questions, and perhaps this is getting to level where it shouldnt be on a nissan forum >_< sorry, if it is.

1) Haven't found much on the 4EFTE, as far as people carrying them, anyone know much about it?

2) Since I'm 16, and really have no clue how to install an engine, can anyone give me an estimate, I could call places but I would have no clue if they're bs'ing me or not.

Again, sorry, and I'm going to upload pics soon.

EDIT: Does the 20v 4AGE come with toyota's VVT or VVT-i

Jarco Inc. - http://www.jarcoinc.com/inventory/

They currently have quite a few AE101 motors, some going for $1,750.

There is a dude out here in Lancaster who has a Trecel which he turboed, they've gone though like 4 motors in it (stock 1.3 liter), but the got it to run 13.8... Not too bad. Maybe you can just work with the stock motor, i'm sure they're really cheap if you break them. Just get a turbo manifold made up and you can keep swapping it to the next motor.

I thought the 4agze has a slightly higher hp/torque (15?), I figure if I get a 20v, i can always add a supercharger and get more of a HP gain that way, also the 4age 93^ is newer = less miles

PICS COMING TONIGHT FOR SURE, MY FRIEND TOOK THEM AND SOME SHORT VIDEO TOO

4agze can't support all that much power. My friend's Mr2 gave out at 14psi, it ran 14.6s... I'd assume 200whp would be pretty much the max unless you want to spend a lot of money. The supercharger it pretty beat at even 14psi, you'd need to turbo it to get real power. You should get somthing with more potential if want sleeper.

4agze's are great engines, they can handle upwards of 300 hp. however, i recommended the 20v because well, n/a 4age's are just more fun (and the less miles of course). Besides, just like the 4age's redtops, they have reinforced internals for a kick-*** custom turbo. And the sound of the throttle bodies is another deal.....
