Nope. The reason Nissan went with a different DOHC V6 in the Max was that the 300ZX motor was too big to fit in the engine bay even without the turbos. Engine plus turbos definitely wouldn't work.

Of course, with enough work, time, and money it would be made to work. IT would be a major build though.

I moved your thread to the Maxima forums as you will have a better chance at a specific answer here. As far as your question goes, most of the swaps I've seen involved the VG30ET out of the Z31 300ZX. Very much a perfect fit, bolts right up to the original Maxima transmission (you might have to swap out the bellhousing, I'm not sure). The car I saw was running a piggyback ECU system.I'm sure someone else will chime in soon, but that I know of, no one has swapped a VG30DETT in a 3rd Gen Maxima.

Yep, you're right, Max trans bolts right up to the Z31 VG30ET since RWD and FWD SOHC VGs used the same block.

Cool, yeah I knew there wasn't much custom work that needed to be done. The main hassle is the electrical work, and that usually is sidestepped with the piggyback ECU.Still would love someone to actually take the time and funds to swap the VG30ET and drivetrain from a Pathy to get a 4WD turbo Maxima. I know I fantasized about the possibilities when I still had my 3rd Gens.
