For those of you over the ocean (Or Dee ) I know the CA has problems dealing with excess blow-by. Or should I say I know that now. Because when I had my motor built, I had them over-gap the rings a little bit because I intend to run nitrous later on down the road. The problem is now that I have so much blow-by (nothings wrong, it's been like this since the rebuild, and it's much less than it was before the rebuild) that it overwhelms the PCV system and I'm still blowing out my dipstick. I'm pulling the head in the next month or so and I'm contemplating throwing a new set of rings in there.

So what kind of end gap do you guys run on your rings? Just whatever the FSM says? I didn't know if you guys had any tricks up your sleeves or not.

Thanks,Ryan

Are you sure it´s blow by? Sometimes you need better crank house vent when reving hard.I usually disconnect the vent hose and use a small K&N.

I´m the wrong guy to ask about the gap, never use the Nissan pistons. Never had these problems using Volvo or Wiseco pistons.

I've tried disconnecting the hose and just leaving it open. It doesn't help.

Did you clean it when you had the cam covers off? Probably did.

Hmm, this is hard... Did you check compression? Good in all cylinders?Same problems cold vs warm engine?

Yea, the motor was rebuilt a couple of years ago and got all new hoses and such.

The compression is good and even across the cylinders.

Doesn't really matter if it's cold or hot.

As I said, the only thing that I could come up with was that when I had the shop over-gap the piston rings, it's causing so much blow-by that the PCV system can't handle it.

I thought about "T"ing off of the oil drain line and pulling suction from there. That would be a direct line to the crankcase. I don't know what effect that would have on the turbo though.

Did you try putting a slight bend or kink in the middle of the dipstick to create friction? It might work...but just know it may not stick as far down as before...but if the level stays the same on the dipstick over time then you know you are ok.

The problem is that I have a horrendous oil leak at the HG on the exhaust side at the back of the head. So I can't tell if I'm consuming oil or not, as I leak it at a pretty quick rate.
