crusing down the highway doin like 65 my oil light comes on tonight... but it came on very very dim barely noticed it. i stopped and shut it off checked my oil levels verything is fine. i had just changed the oil maybe 100 miles ago. started it back up and sure enough it was still on but very dim. didn;t hear any odd engine noises from the valvetrain. anyway i crept it home about 2 miles and let it sit. i did verify that it was on though i unplugged the sensor from the block and the light shut off... any ideas?

im gonna hook up a autometer oil pres. gauge tomorrow and see what my readings are at. my rear main has been leaking slightly for the last week or so but that happend long before this light came on. do guy guys think its just a bad sensor or something? car was running fine and still is. the only thing i can thikn is a s***ty oil filter? im using some STP one from autozone just cause they had a deal goin on with that and castrol GTX which is what i always use in all my cars. i will be putting a mobil 1 or better quality filter on now though.

Bad sensor, low pressure from a failing pump, blockage in your filter... I dunno. You have the right idea, though, checking the pressure.

If you have oil in the system, and your pressure checks out A-OK, replace the sensor perhaps.

the light is on dim? like darker than the rest of the warning lights?

its electrical

the light doesnt change brightness based on oil pressure.

^ what he said.light should be either on or off...check the sensor but check pressure too; stp filters are actually pretty good.

ok cool thats what i kinda figured. it seemed weird to me that it was on but real dim, def not as bright as the other warning lights. i'll check all wiring and sensor but most likely im just going to pull the stock sensor and put my autometer sender there, as long as i can be pretty sure its not a actual oil issue that helps alot. thanks for the replys

heck yeah get that ghey stock sensor off and put on that autometer. that way you know the real pressure instead of a WARNING LIGHT. lol.
