we just put everything together.. new headgasket.. gave it a compression test and got 150, 150, 150, 0.... zero on the last cylinder.. my buddy said either the head bolts were torqued in the wrong order.. or we donno. BEFORE we put on the headgasket, my results were 120, 90, 120, 110.... so its something we did i believe. any help would be appreciated.. thanks guys

you can't get zero on the cylinder unless there's a hole in the piston, or your cam is busted or something. The movement of the piston will create SOME pressure. Check the timing (to make sure the valves aren't staying open).

I'm with sean. I would be very hard pressed to believe that it wouldn't be able to build ANY pressure. You didn't do anything silly like depress the pressure relief valve on the side of it while you were cranking did you?

a pressure release valve? this is new to me.. we timed it perfect.. 180 out, bleh blah its all timed according to the fsm. the cylinder is perfect.. we stuck our fingers in the cylinder hole and the pressure felt the same so there is pressure just the gauge wont read it. maybe bent valves? hell this is so confusing. but this pressure release valve.. what is this?

on the compression tester, there is a pressure release valve/button (usually)... Ryan is trying to ask if you were pressing this while trying to take the reading?

You'll also get 0 if you've got a bent valve or one sticking open...

most likely a bent valve or stock one as some one already have mentioned. don't try and crank it, you might bent the valves if they are stock open. Double check your timing belt to be on the safe side.

Good luck,Rafi,PULSAR GTR

well he obviously had to crank it to figure out that he had 0 compression on the last cylnder. I'd pull the valve covers, timing belt, cams, and lifters. You should then be able to tell pretty easily if you've got a valve stuck open/bent. Kind of a pain, but not impossible.

I suppose, but I'd have a head shop do it. I still think you've just got a stuck lifter or something.
