Car: 1992 240SX

Problem: About a month ago when I'd hop in the car and try to put the window down it wouldn't go down but 50% of the time. But if it went down I could always put it back up - it always either completely worked or didn't work during any single "driving session." Well the other day I put it down and now it won't go back up and I need help figuring out what is broken so I can replace it.

Now when it used to work when it wanted to, I could sometimes hit the door and make it work. Also, when I push the button now, a clicking noise is made (not by the button, by something inside the door).

Is it the switch, the relay, the motor? What? And if it is one of these things, could you tell me where they are and how much they might cost? Thanks a whole lot. :)

Also: In the meantime, if I take the door panel off, is there a manual crank somewhere in there so I can put my window back up during this rainy season? Thanks.

Comon' guys. I did a search for power windows and apparently no one ever responds to this topic. What's the deal? How can no one here help me or the other people with this problem out???

well to begin with, no one is REQUIRED to respond to your problems. If someone does know the solution, then it would be nice of them to let you know.

Anyway, my guess would be your window regulator is bad ir could also be that your window glass has slipped out of it's track and unable to move because of being jammed against the weather stripping. Take the door apart and see if you find anything.

I understand that no one HAS to respond. But, I find it frustrating when I search other similar topics and no one ever responds. Do people around here who seemingly could disassemble and reassemble the whole engine seriously not know a thing about the power window???? I find that very hard to believe.

Anyhow, I tested around and found the switch is bad, I'm bidding for one on eBay.

I think that's because alot of people only know more about 'trivial' things and not really much about real technical issues. sucks.

hope the ebay switch fixes your problem, good luck.

hey tex let us know if that switch did it. but if it didnt check the upper cable guide on your regulator and see if the cable retainer portion of it broke.
