Guys I noticed today when I opened my trunk, water was dropping from the corners of the trunk lid when opened all the way. I tore the trunk apart and found about an inch of standing water by the drainage hoses on the left side. The drainage hoses seem to be fine and I found no source of water leaking, but the 10mm bolts holding the spoiler on seemed a bit rustier than they should be. I took them off in hopes of removing the spoiler to re-silicone the bolts but after removing the bolts it seems the spoiler is on with some SERIOUS adhesive.

Anyone know how I can remove the spoiler without compromising the spoiler, adhesive, or paint?

couldn't find anything in the FSM. Thanks!

Sounds like you've removed the trunk trim and can get to all the spoiler bolts. You've got the FSM so you know that there is a flat gasket all around the spoiler. The spoiler is made of a dense foam so it's pretty hard to damade if you're thinking of prying it loose with a spatula. If the gasket has been glued on the trunk side it should still release form the spoiler side. If not, the PO has put adhesive on both sides of the gasket.

The two plastic fasteners through the lid on the topside of the spoiler are a bear to unclip. Have you had any luck getting those loose? In the end, if you can't get the spoiler off you might try using both a rubber and metal washer with each fastener. The FSM doesn't show this but I added rubber washers as extra insurance against leakage. Finally, there should be a gap in the gasket on the lower edge on both sides for drainage. Are these open or sealed shut with adhesive? Could explain why water is seeping in through the bolt holes. Good luck

Really? I took mine off last month, and it was hollow fiberglass!Had a factory Nissan logo on the underside, moulded into the spoiler itself.... so it's definitely a factory item

Thanks for the reply goody. I hadn't even noticed the two plastic clips you're talking about....you are talking about a y33 here and not a g50 right? Thanks!

Oops. I was talking about a G50. Sorry. I think you will find similarities. Not sure about the one-time-use outer clips. If the spoiler won't come off and feels like it's hanging up on the ends it's probably the same plastic clips since you wont see them from the underside.

You're right Oz. The underside is hollow but the remaining wall material is at least 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches thick in most places and is built pretty stout. You'd have a tough time breaking it while prying with a wide spatula to pop it loose.

Dude, I don't know what kind of eggs you're cooking, but no spatula in MY kitchen will part that spoiler from that trunk.
