Hi there,
I have a 2006 G35x sedan. 65K miles. Have had it for about a year and a half. Driving home tonight, at a red light...steam began pouring out from under my hood. My temp gauge spiked and the check engine light came on. The steam was coming out of the front corner of the hood, only on the passenger side. When I got out to check the car, I noticed coolant on the hood and on the passenger side of the car. When I lifted the hood, that same spot under the hood was drenched with coolant and I heard massive boiling.
My first question is...any suggestions on the likely problem?
Second...I had the car in for 60K tune up in May. I then brought the car in last week for squealing brakes and because during an oil change, the tech told me my belts were cracked...which supposedly had just been replaced in May (I confirmed on the receipt). So they sprayed the brakes to fix the squeal and told me my belts were fine. Like I said, that was a week ago. Is it reasonable to expect them to notice a problem in the general vacinity of the belts they were checking?
I did notice that it seemed like my fan was running more since I picked my car up last week. I couldn't tell if it was abnormal or not. I thought it was just because I was running the AC. Then this happens. Any thoughts?
I appreciate any feedback you can provide.
