I have been reading various treads, and I have an idea what's going on. I just want to share this experience for other to avoid the same scenario.
My Datsun 720 1983 have been running great until today.
Usually when I start it on cold mornings for a 5 min warmup, it has been idling up quite a bit. I thought it was a auto choke.
This morning it did not, it started but was running low in idle. I headed to work, and went straight down to the 70mph interstate, and then realized I had no performance at all. There was a loud whistle coming from the engine, like a old turbo charger sound. So there I was, struggling to maintain 50mph, with a rush hour of morning traffic and giant semi blaring the horn at me. Uphill it slowed to 45mph and it was a pretty horrific experience.
So I am guessing it is the vacuum lines? They have never been changed, and I thought they were fine, but I guess not?
I asked in a different post back in July were to buy vacuum lines, but never received an answer.
Other than the vacuum lines what else could be wrong? Engine never quit, and there was no vibrations.
Any help or advice is always appreciated.
