Has anyone changed out their OEM high beam bulbs on a +02 Q45? I would like to find a bulb that produces a "whiter" light similar to the low beams.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Silverstar by Sylvania will come the closest at 4600° K color temperature.

Good point. On the FY33 with HID, it is almost superfluous.

My HID's are rare in that they actually use the same burner for the high beams, but they just allow more light out, thus creating a high beam. However, I never use them! It gets to the point where it is almost too much light.

I found these on eBay.

Has anyone tried "H1 55w Xenon Type" bulbs in their Q45?

They are so cheap, I'm tempted to get them just to test them. Could these aftermarket bulbs damage my car's lighting system? Please advise.

Thanks in Advance!DuDro

I used them before I put my HID's in. I actually used 100 watt style ones. I was actually very pleased. They looked very much like HID's and were a bargain. I believe the stock ones are also 55 watts. Those should not damage anything.

I don't use the high beams, if ever.

But, i do sell some Piaa's that will make them look much better.

My M45 uses HB3 (also called 9005) for the High-Beam bulbs. Aren't these the same as what your 2002 Q45 uses? The H1 size would not fit, I'd think!

As to whether they would damage your lighting system, I do not know. I prefer to use Sylvania Silverstars ... in fact, I am thinking of getting two 9005 ST bulbs (this is the Sylvania part number for the Silverstar) when they next have a sale at local auto places or Sylvania has a rebate (happens periodically.)

Silverstars are approx 4000° K (acccording to http://www.sylvania.com/Consum...t.htm).

Still, that is better than 3200° K standard halogens.
