94 is odb1 .I doubt they have that reader.Yes, the procedure by Driver is the correct procedure if you dont have a consult.

I just had a mechanic did a diag. and they said the problem is the #1 fuel injector and it will require 5hr of labor to change the part!!!they said the intake manifold needs to be remove. Is this true guys???? pls let me know asap before I have them work on it. thanks!

thanks, Yoda. Would this technique work for the #1 cylinder (front left)? The car is in the shop but I did remember the one screw, the left one is way deep underneath the plenum. I can still stop the $700 repair job if it's possible for the #1 cyl. pls respond asap thanks!

any injector can be reached with enough careful grinding. The danger is going to far and popping into the plenum airway. Not good.I have the extension rig for my dremel that kinda like what a dentist uses. That and steady hand will get-er-done.But by all means if your not confident doing it have it done by a pro.

My time constraint did not allow me to do more research on the possibilty to using this procedures for the #1 FI/cyl. I went ahead and had the mechanic do the job for $650. It is now running somewhat better after #FI was change but when the engine is hot it tend shake a bit. The mechanic said there might be more dirty FI's that needs cleaning so he advice to add FI cleaner in the fuel every 5k miles and see if it goes away. Any thought on that...

How many miles on the engine and do you have the list of replacement parts (new injector, gaskets, o-rings, etc) that the mechanic installed? Shaking indicates a cylinder misfire for one reason or another. $650, including parts, is inexpensive if he pulled the plenum to change the injector.

The car has around 145k miles. Only part I ask for and got back was the one FI. I guess if you remove the plenum you will need a new gasket or maybe the mechanic use the same one who knows if thats possible. What is the O ring? The retuned FI looks just like the one in the pics from the procedures by Driver. The next time I'm sure I will use this procedure, too much to pay!

The shake after the repair is really a minor one in compare before the #1 FI was change and only during full stop like at the stop light and not enough to make you nervous that its going to stall or anything. The car actually accell and seems to have more power now, of course I'm using 92 octane now unlike the 87 being use the last 25Kmiles. I hope the FI cleaner will solve the prob. and not cause it to fail smog next year.
