Its finally time for me to buy springs for my s14. I have the new KYB AGXs sitting in my bedroom already. I have been debating over and over with myself about which springs to buy. I have read all of the discussions on this site about springs and I am still running around in my head. First i was set on sportlines, then I was pretty sure I wanted H & Rs, now I am back at the beginning.

I am looking for a spring that will provide excellent handling as I love to autocross for fun. I dont mind discomfort in daily driving because I have been driving with blown struts for a while now. However, I want a noticeable drop for my own satisfaction of the looks of my car. The S-techs are supposed to be great, but they do not drop the s14 very much. The sportlines drop the car a lot, but I have heard agxs are not as good with drops near 2" and I question the performance of them. H & R seems to be quality, but there just is not enough information on them. I know that most of you veterans have seen this discussion four-niner-gadjillion times, but trust me, this has been thought long and hard over. Thanks for anyone's input of people especially those with s14s and agxs. Pictures are appreciated.

yeah I have read that but hadnt really put some thought into the ground control coilovers because I think they might be out of my budget range. Now that i read over yours again, I see that you had the same goals as I do and now am considering it more seriously. It would not only give me the adjustable ride height but it sounds like it would be good for handling as well. Who did you buy yours from? and how much did you pay? Also to adjust the ride, do you just have to take the wheel off and twist it?

Festino: basically, yes, that is how you adjust ride height with ground control coilovers.

There is another issue that seems to be a side note with all the posts about adjusting ride height. Any time you make adjustments to your vehicle's ride height, you need to get your car realigned. Sure, some will argue that you don't need to do so if you only make slight adjustments. I submit to those people that alignments are measured in degrees of adjustment, not in whole or half inches.

If that makes sense to you, then you will understand the need for alignment after any change in ride height.

check our the RS*R race springs, look at the suspension FAQ spring rates, etc and you can usually determine what your looking for. Almost any of theose springs would work well with the AGX's you have, too.-chet

I bought my ground controls through ground control.:)

You don't have to take the wheel off to make adjustments for the most part...in the front, it's a little harder that way though and easier to just take the wheel off.

Sure, alignment specs are altered when you raise/lower a car...but they are also altered when you take corners and hit speed bumps. It's not something you need to worry about if you are making slight adjustments to reach your desired ride height. Most people never adjust them once they reach that height anyway, so don't stress it. Just my $.02 on that one.;)

I have also heard good things about the RS*R "race" springs... Only down side is the lack of them stateside, or so Ive heard.

I may be dropping my progress springs that have served me decently for a 2.5 yrs for a set of those or GC. That is before I finally finish up more important things and go full coilovers.

Or mabey I should just buy a decent tire next time, but getting about 15k on every set of 300+ tread wear tires I have owned kinda scares me when thinking of low 200's...
