What's up Nico family. I'm in dire need of some help. Recently I've rebuilt a 95 ka24de engine to put in my 91 hatch and now I'm stuck on getting the timing done on it. I know this is probably a fairly covered topic but the search forum isn't helping me at all so if anyone can help me out with some advice on how to get the timing done, that would be awesome. Illustrations or pictures would be a big help as well. If anyone's in the Greenvile/Greer SC area then come on over and help out! Haha. Thanks guys!

Do you need to get the timing tweaked or do you need to get the dizzy in right and get it running?

The former is easy, get a timing light, hook it up, adjust.

The latter is slightly more finicky.

Check out gunemdown.net. Local(carolinas) drift forum. We've got several SC guys who can probably help ya out. Use my SN as a referral :-)

Clarify what you need and i'll direct as best I can.

Lol! So glad you popped up Dire, I did call. xD But anyway Ibreevesii, the motor is still sitting on the motor stand, we've pretty much put everything back together and we can't go any further until the timing is done on it. We've turned it until the first piston is at the very top, and we've adjusted the two cranks up top to match the book, but we're having problems with the bottom crank where the main pulley would go on matching that of the book along with the crank bellow the intake and exhaust crank (Forgive me if that's not what they're called) matching up with that of the book. (Note: My block doesn't have any markings to match any of the dots up with, dunno if that matters or not) I wish I could upload a picture on here to show you what it is now but unfortunately I can not. I hope I didn't confuse anyone, if you guys can help out then proceed!

main pulley should line up the second notch on the needle pointer.
on the distributor, if you look inside the head, there's a notch also that you will see facing on the same direction with the rotor.
the cam sprockets should have the dimple on the following clock position: Intake cam 10 "o"clock, Exhaust cam on 12 "0" clock

hope this helps...just tyoing from top of my head.

Here is a good reference for cams:

I'm not entirely sure follow, but:

There is supposed to be a pin that you line the notches in the crank pulley up with the second notch from the left. Its at about 1:00 on the block. If nothing else you should be able to tell where it was supposed to be if its broken/missing. You gotta know its exactly on TDC.

Unless i'm forgetting something you don't have to do any real fiddling with the lower chain, just get it on there and get the upper gear in its place. Get the upper chain lined up right while you're doing that and you should be good.

For lining up the upper chain follow the jim wolfe guide.

As for the distributor itself:
Look at where the number one spark plug goes in the cap. You line up the rotor button with that spot exactly. I think its right above the connector that goes to the ECU, but there is actually a little V notch in the distributor that is almost exactly in line with #1. Makes it easy to get it right without putting the cap on it for reference.

Just rotate the button a bit counter-clockwise from where it needs to end up and push it in. If its off, work from there until you get it.

Sorry, not the best description. There is a great thread somewhere on the web with rebuild pix/info but I can't seem to find it.

Find yourself a buddy at GED who will help ya out.
